• Welcome to Delano Ultimate eSports League (DUeL)

Delano Joint Union High School Technology Department has teamed up with the comprehensive high schools to develop an eSports league to bring focus to a new lucrative and developing industry. An eSports league will help foster curiosity through technology, and provide direct STEAM career pathways.

The league will be composed of teams involving DJUHSD high schools. Teams will compete in online scrimmages which will help in seeding them for the main tournament. The spring tournament will also allow other school districts to compete against DUeL teams.

    Why eSports?

Esports is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world today. While traditional sports focus on the physicality of the athlete, it has always been the personal growth of the athlete that has the most value. Esports is no different. Competition builds communication, social-emotional, and problem-solving skills, which are key characteristics for success.

ESports is much more than a club or sport. According to the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), currently, there are more than 240 colleges and universities in the United States and Canada actively recruiting and offering more than $15 million in scholarships for eSports athletes — universities like UC Irvine, Indiana Tech, and the University of Utah to name a few. The opportunities for college scholarships are growing each year. Like the Personal Computer, eSports gaming is an engagement opportunity that is dynamic and growing every day.

  • SPRING SEASON INFORMATION.

The esports team is a competitive gaming team made up of students from Cesar E. Chavez High School who will compete against other high schools in the region. The esports spring season runs from January to March.  Practices and match days take place online, after school, times may vary, and on the Cesar E. Chavez High School campus, except for the esports finals which will take place in Bakersfield, CA.  Students will use gaming desktop computers provided by the school to compete remotely from our labs.

This spring season, we will be playing Fortnite, Rocket League, and/or Valorant. These multiplayer games are rated up to T (Teen) by the ESRB and are free to play. Cesar E. Chavez High School provides all the necessary equipment, making this experience completely free for our students. During matches, up to five CCHS students per team will compete against students from other schools. This competition helps our students develop important skills such as teamwork, strategy, patience, and communication.

The Cesar E. Chavez High School esports team follows the bylaws of the Delano Ultimate Esports League Code of Conduct and Participation Guidelines, DJUHSD Code of Conduct, and DJUHSD Athletics Handbook. To participate and compete, your student must have a 2.0 GPA or higher, maintain good citizenship and behavior, have good attendance and meet the general requirements to be on the esports roster.
