This spring, all three comprehensive high schools in the district, Delano High School (DHS), Cesar E. Chavez High School (CCHS), and Robert F. Kennedy High School (RFKHS), welcomed their incoming Class of 2030 with an exciting and informative event: Freshmen Launch.

Freshmen Launch is more than a traditional orientation, it’s an engaging, high-energy introduction to high school designed to inspire, connect, and prepare students and families for the journey ahead.

Throughout the events, incoming freshmen had the opportunity to:

• Meet teachers, counselors, and school administrators
• Learn about academic programs, pathways, and expectations
• Explore clubs, sports, and extracurricular opportunities
• Connect with support services and college partners
• Get answers to questions about schedules, activities, and campus life

Each campus created a welcoming atmosphere with interactive activities, campus tours, and opportunities for students to start building relationships before the first day of school. From signing up for sports and clubs to meeting future classmates, students were able to begin envisioning their high school experience.

Freshmen Launch reflects the district’s commitment to ensuring every student feels prepared, supported, and excited as they take this important next step in their educational journey. By replacing the traditional “orientation” with a more dynamic and student-centered experience, DHS, CCHS, and RFKHS are helping freshmen start strong and thrive from day one.
