Giving to Our Community
Delano City Council Member, Liz Morris, made a special visit to Valley High School Friday morning December 15th to accept eight blankets made by students from both the ASB and News Production classes. Mrs. Morris accepted the blankets on behalf of the Delano Women’s Shelter which is scheduled to open in early spring of 2018. In appreciation, Mrs. Morris explained the importance of acts of service such as this that help bring healing and comfort to the least fortunate in our community. She encouraged our Eagles to partner with other non-profit organizations, including Community Connections, to continue reaching out to the community’s needy. Teachers Linda McKnight of News Production and Susana Rubio for ASB, stated that this activity was meant to give students the opportunity to actively participate and demonstrate care and love for the community they live in. They also wanted to thank the students from the PACT program who contributed to the project by making blankets for use by infants enrolled in the program. All flannel material used in these projects was donated by Mrs. Brenda Lopez, VHS Transportation, for community project use.
