District Announces Passing of former Superintendent Dr. Nuckols

It is with deep regret and a heavy heart that I must share the passing of Dr. Terri Nuckols.  Dr. Nuckols was an educator for more than 35 years.  She will always be remembered for her passion for learning and her commitment to the students and staff of this District.  Dr. Nuckols began her work in education as a substitute teacher in the Porterville Unified School District and was eventually hired as an English instructor at Monache High School.  In July 2006 she came to Delano as the Learning Director at Cesar E. Chavez High School.  In 2009, she was named Principal at Delano High School and became the Director of the Delano Adult School in July 2012.

Dr. Nuckols was named Delano Joint Union High School District Superintendent in November 2015. Under her leadership, the District continued to thrive and its schools were consistently ranked within the top schools in both Kern and Tulare counties. Under the guidance of Dr. Terri Nuckols, the District continued its commitment to providing college and career opportunities for students. There has been a significant increase in college partner relationships as the District has overhauled its CTE pathway classes to better align with its college partners.  Dr. Nuckols’ vision and leadership helped to make this change while creating seamless transitions for students and moving the District’s dual enrollment program forward providing students with the opportunity to earn valuable college credits while attending classes on their high school campuses.  She was instrumental in collaborating with Bakersfield College to begin the new Industrial Automation Pathway at Robert F. Kennedy High School.

Graveside Services will be held on Friday, April 5th, at 10:00 a.m. at Vandalia Cemetery on E. Scranton Ave in Porterville followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 p.m. at the Nuckols’ Ranch, 13144 Road 216, Porterville.
