Classified Employee of the Year

KATRINA SANDOVAL NAMED 2020 CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR

The Delano Joint Union High School District is proud to announce that Mrs. Katrina Sandoval has been selected as the District's 2020 Classified Employee of the Year. Mrs. Sandoval has served as a Bus Driver for the Delano Joint Union High School District safely transporting students for 17 years. She currently serves special education students with compassion, caring and a keen understanding of student needs. She is also involved in numerous school and community activities and inspires others to contribute their time to school activities. She consistently demonstrates leadership, a positive attitude and has helped the transportation department grow in many positive ways.

Katrina is also involved in many school and community activities outside of driving a bus she participates every year for the past five years in the Special Education Department Prom along with the Staff put on for our students. Katrina also is a part of the Volleyball, Softball, and Track parent boosters providing funds and meals for the students.

Katrina Sandoval has an attitude of always waning to help, which almost all the time turns out to her leading the group. Coming up with creative and new ideas on how a job or task can be done, and at the same time pulling everyone together in positive way. Within the Transportation Department she takes the role of remembering everyone’s birthday and putting together some kind of event to recognize that person which always bring the team closer in unity within the work place.

Each year Kern County school districts nominate exemplary classified employees in six categories designated by the California Dept. of Education (CDE). This year Delano Joint Union High School District nominated Mrs. Katrina Sandoval in the category of Maintenance, Operations, and Facilities. The Kern County Supt. of Schools' panel of judges reviewed the nominations and selected Mrs. Sandoval as the County's honoree to be considered for recognition by the CDE as one of the 2020 State Classified Employees of the Year.
