About Our School

Robert F. Kennedy High School (RFKHS) opened August 13, 2008 as the third comprehensive high school in Delano. Robert F. Kennedy High School is located at 1401 Hiett Avenue and has an enrollment of approximately 349 ninth, 339 tenth, 303 eleventh and 321 twelfth grade students with 12 ungraded special education students in our Severely Handicapped Program. Now RFKHS, Cesar E. Chavez High School, and Delano High School are sister schools within the Delano Joint Union High School District serving students in grades nine through twelve. Robert F. Kennedy High School employs 58 teachers, four administrators, and approximately 60 support staff. Our departments include Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Foreign Language, Business Education, State Requirements, Industrial Arts, Physical Education, Art, and Music. All staff provides academic and emotional support to our students. We have additional support staff such as the school nurse, school psychologist, a student affairs specialist, and an intervention counselor who follows-up and provides interventions for students with social, emotional, discipline, and attendance problems.

The Robert F. Kennedy campus is a gorgeous addition to the Delano Joint Union High School District. The campus is well designed with the interior of its campus constructed around a center architecture design exclusive to RFKHS. The architectural layout of the school consists of 36 general education classrooms, a science building, an Industrial Arts building, Business/Engineering Technology building, a cafeteria, a gymnasium, an administrative building and a lecture hall that includes a library, band room, choir room, and drama production facilities. The educational staff at RFKHS is committed to providing its students with a rigorous, above standards education that will help our students experience academic success. Robert F. Kennedy High School's Professional Learning Community is committed to providing a climate of respect and fairness in which all students meet their full potential and experience academic excellence everyday. Each student will be provided with the tools to succeed in a post-secondary education and/or the skills necessary to become a productive member of society.

Robert F. Kennedy High School will continue to model the District’s academic curriculum. In addition to the district curriculum, RFKHS offers several unique courses of study such as Welding, Building Skills, and Engineering Technology. Each course is designed to provide above standards curriculum and promote critical thinking skills for our students. Our School offers students the opportunity to enroll in Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways of Architecture and Structural Engineering, Woodshop and Construction, and Metal and Manufacturing. Each of these pathways is structured with a goal to ensure that upon completion of high school, students will possess strong foundational skills and advanced skills in the career field of their choice, allowing students to receive certification from CTE programs, pursue postsecondary education, and/or enter occupations directly. These courses will integrate academic, career, and technical education in order to utilize work-based and work site learning experiences.
