Welcome

  • Welcome parents, students, and staff to Cesar E. Chavez High School. Our students and school community are proud of a history of excellence and enjoy sharing our school’s accomplishments with parents and community members. In August 2003, Chavez High was Titan Born, opening its doors to the students of Delano and therefore marking the beginning of a new educational era. After a little over two decades, we can say that our school community is Titan Made. Not only do our students continue to distinguish themselves in the classroom every day as they prepare for college and/or a career, our Titans make us proud on stage, on the field, and in the community at large; they are Fearless, Driven, Titan!

Our school motto is “A school where learning and academic achievement are fostered, recognized, and celebrated.” Teachers, parents, students, and staff have worked hard to create a unique Titan culture, align our curriculum, instruction, and assessments to the California Content Standards and to the Common Core State Standards. Chavez High students continue to benefit from these efforts, as evidenced in over a decade of accomplishments which reflect the dedication, talent and abilities of our students and staff. During the fall of 2011, CCHS became the top-performing high school in Kern and Tulare counties with an API score of 847, verifying that our people, as well as our programs, are making an impact on the academic progress of our students.

In the spring of 2011, Chavez High was nominated and then honored with their first California Distinguished School Award. Chavez High then received this prestigious award again in 2019 and 2024.  In 2012, Chavez High was named again as a Title I Academic Achievement Award winner, and a National Title I Distinguished School. In 2009 and then 2011, CCHS was named by U.S. News and World Report as one of America’s Top High Schools (Bronze Medal). In 2012 and 2014, CCHS achieved Silver Medal status as one of America’s Top High Schools, according to U.S. News and World Report. Although we are proud of recent accolades and accomplishments, the challenge remains to continue innovating, collaborating, analyzing data, and having high expectations with support mechanisms to assist all CCHS students. We are confident that CCHS will continue to be a great school with the support of our parents and our community.
