COURSE DESCRIPTION
FRENCH I CP
ACCEPTED GRADE LEVEL: 9 – 12
PRE-REQUISITE: “C” in English - must be concurrently enrolled in HS, CP or Honors English.
COURSE SEQUENCE/PATHWAY: Students who have successfully completed French I CP will have met the pre-requisite for French II CP.
COURSE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER: 50
CREDITS: 5 credits per semester
DESCRIPTION: French I CP emphasizes a communicative approach to learning vocabulary, grammar, and culture through meaningful oral and written activities. Students will have the opportunity to experience France and the French-speaking world, learn to communicate with confidence in French (on a basic level), and extend and enhance their learning through integrated technology. A variety of activities will provide reinforcement of basic oral and written skills. Speaking is emphasized, and comprehension is reinforced by audio and video media. Regular attendance is important. This course satisfies a graduation requirement.

EXIT REQUIREMENTS: Upon completion of the French I CP course, the learners will:
Communicate with learned phrases; ask and respond to simple questions.
Describe people, places and things; describe future plans (futur proche).
Begin narrating past events (passé composé).

California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE)
