DJUHSD Food Service Cook Off
The first ever DJUHSD Food Service Cook-Off competition on Friday, August 9, featured three teams judged on presentation, flavor, creativity, smell, and use of specific ingredients. Surprise ingredients included pork belly and cilantro. Food service employees were divided into three teams based on their kitchen. The event was judged by Rene Ayon, Walter Fontejon, Beverly Mamaril, and Dolores Rodriguez. "CCHS had a super delicious guacamole and the event was so much fun," said Rodriguez. The winning team from Delano High prepared chicken with poblano sauce, rice with corn and peas, served on potatoes and garnished with pork belly. They advance to the Kern County Superintendent of Schools competition. The event was planned and implemented by Andrea Popoy, Food Service Supervisor.
