DJUHSD EARLY COLLEGE GOAL:

All students will have the opportunity to complete at least 12 college units while they are in high school.

What is Early College?

Early College packages college course opportunities for high school students into pathways that begin in the 9th grade, allowing cohorts of students the opportunity to earn associate degrees and/or certificates by the time they walk across the stage at their high school graduation.  

DUAL ENROLLMENT + CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT = EARLY COLLEGE

• • Dual Enrollment:  College courses offered during the high school day and taught by a high school instructor.
  • Concurrent Enrollment:  College courses high school students take after school, either on their high school campus or at the BC Delano Campus.

Levels

Students will be able to complete between 12 and 60 college units through a combination of dual and concurrent enrollment courses.  

12 units > 30 units > 42 units > 60 units

How can a student participate?

• Apply online to Bakersfield College.
• Meet with your high school counselor and tell them you want to take Early College courses.
