Mr. Jason Garcia

Superintendent

The Delano Joint Union High School District is a district of rich traditions, high expectations, and a century of outstanding achievement.  Delano High School began in 1911 with fourteen students and two teachers.  Over 100 years later, our district serves more than 4200 students and employs over 400 dedicated employees.  Cesar E. Chavez High School opened its doors in 2003 and Robert F. Kennedy High School, our newest school, began in 2008.   In addition, we have an alternative site, Valley High School, and an adult education agency, Delano Adult School, which serves over 1200 students from Delano and the outlying area.

Our schools are all high-achieving schools.  Both Delano High School and Cesar E. Chavez High School were named as California Distinguished Schools in 2011.  All three comprehensive sites have been named by U.S. News and World Report as America’s Best High Schools, either at the Silver or Bronze level; Cesar E. Chavez is a Title I Academic Achievement Award winner, as well as a National Title I Distinguished School.  Valley High School was named as a Model Continuation School.  Most recently, Delano High and Robert F. Kennedy High were named Exemplary Dual Enrollment Schools.

In addition to outstanding educational programs, our district has a rich array of extra and co-curricular programs to support the whole student.  Our visual and performing arts, fine arts, and athletic programs offer extensive opportunities for all students.  Our CTE programs help prepare our students to enter a variety of careers with job skills they need to be successful in the workplace.

We have an outstanding Governing Board of Trustees which supports the educational programs and provides the resources and support needed to accomplish the District's goals and initiatives.  Together with the support of our parents, our outstanding community, and the talented and dedicated teachers and support staff, we have become one of the highest achieving districts in the state.

It is my pleasure to serve as the Superintendent of this District.  We are committed to providing our students with a safe and nurturing learning environment, outstanding instruction, access to the latest technology, and learning opportunities to prepare them for success beyond high school with 21st Century skills.
