Admissions Policy for Career Technical Education Programs

I. INTRODUCTION
An admission process is necessary for Career Technical Education programs where there are more applicants than openings. All applicants to the career technical education programs for grades nine through twelve will be evaluated using the selection criteria contained in the CTE Admissions Procedure.
II. EQUAL EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY
DJUHSD is committed to equal opportunity for all individuals in education. III. ELIGIBILITY
Any eighth grade student entering into DJUHSD and ninth, tenth, or eleventh grade student who is a student in the DJUHSD is eligible to apply for fall admission or admission during the school year subject to availability of openings to the vocational technical education programs. Admission shall be based on the following four categories:
- Grades
- Attendance
- Discipline/Conduct
- Recommendation (Guidance/Administration)
IV. ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
DJUHSD high schools are public schools located in Delano, California. C.T.E. is accredited by WASC. C.T.E. is committed to providing quality vocational and career technical education programs. It is the responsibility of the DJUHSD CTE Director to supervise the administration of the policies and procedures required to admit and enroll applicants in conformity with this Admission Policy.
V. REVIEW
Effective 2013-14, this policy will become part of the CTE program, ensuring annual review by the school committee and dissemination to students, parents and guardians.
