Title I Overview
DJUSHD operates as a Title I Schoolwide program. A Schoolwide program is a comprehensive reform strategy designed to upgrade the entire educational program in a Title I school; its primary goal is to ensure that all students, particularly those who are low-achieving, demonstrate proficient and advanced levels of achievement on State academic achievement standards.

Title II: Teacher & Principal Training & Recruiting
Title II, Part A, Teacher and Principal Training and Recruiting is a federal categorical program contained in the Consolidated Application. The purpose of Title II is to increase the academic achievement of all students by helping schools and district (1) improve teacher and principal quality through professional development and other activities and (2) ensure all teachers are highly qualified.
Title III LEP
The purpose of the Title III LEP Student Program is to ensure that all limited-English proficient (LEP) students, referred to as English learners in California, attain English proficiency, develop high levels of academic attainment in English, and meet the same challenging state academic standards as all other students.
Title III Immigrant
Under Title III, Part A, Section 3114(d)(1) of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, the California Department of Education (CDE) is required to set aside funds to provide subgrant awards to local educational agencies (LEAs) that meet eligibility requirements for participation in the Immigrant Education Student Subgrant Program.
The term "eligible immigrant student" is defined in Title III, Section 3301(6) as an individual student who (a) is aged three through twenty-one; (b) was not born in any state (each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico); and (c) has not been attending any one or more schools in the United States for more than three full school years. Title III - Immigrant Education Program funds are to be specifically targeted to eligible immigrant students and their families through the provision of supplementary programs and services for the underlying purpose of assuring that these students meet the same challenging grade level and graduation standards as mainstream students.
