Heat Illness Prevention Tips

  • As temperatures increase to the high 90s, it is important to stay cool, stay hydrated and stay informed.  Below are some tips to help prevent heat illnesses:

    • Hydrate before, during and after physical activity; drink plenty of water.
    • Wear loose-fitting, lightweight clothing and apply sunscreen before going outside.
    • Monitor length of time outdoors, rest frequently and seek shade.
    • Stay in a cool environment; avoid strenuous physical activity outside during periods of extreme weather.
    • Stay informed about weather-related health and safety updates.
