This years' Early College Graduate Celebration recognized two students from each district; one for academic achievement based on GPA which is determined by the Early College team and the second chosen by the high school district team.  Oscar Juares was selected by Bakersfield College for Academic Achievement in GPA and Samantha Valdez was selected by the DJUHSD. 

Samantha Valdez (District)

"Samantha has been ranked #1 and #2 in her class throughout her entire four years in high school.  Not only is she achieving her Associates in Arts, but she is also completing the medical pathway and achieving multiple certifications.  She has played tennis all four years, being part of two Valley Champion runner-up teams in her 10th and 11th grade years, only to become a D4 Valley Champion her senior year.  She had just returned from her State HOSA conference.  She has played the violin since she was a little girl and performs in a mariachi band regularly.  She also lives on a ranch with her family where she helps take care of 70 cows and a multitude of other animals.  She is one of the most deserving students I have ever had the pleasure of knowing."  - Mr. Derrick
